The Suva High Court has found Nigel Yogesh Singh not guilty of setting fire to a clubhouse.
Justice Dane Tuiqereqere ruled that the prosecution failed to prove Singh deliberately started the fire.
The court heard from a firefighter who investigated the incident that the likely point of origin was near Singh’s bed, where flammable materials were found.
A mosquito coil was also found near the area where the fire started.

The court also heard there was no evidence of animosity between Singh and the clubhouse staff.
Witnesses said they had provided Singh with food and clothing.
Singh has now been acquitted of the arson charge.
