AFL Fiji improve against Nauru

November 20, 2012 11:57 pm

It may have been another loss but the Fiji Aussie Rules footy team showed great improvement in their second Test against Nauru at Albert Park on Tuesday.

The hosts lost 35-75 to the visitors – their earlier defeat was 147-47.

Fiji AFL coach, Richard Babovic says changing their game plan made the difference and Friday’s final match up should prove interesting.

“Yesterday’s (Tuesday) game we played a lot harder and stronger and at the end of the first quarter we were actually in front. We kicked straight with the wind and probably took that majority the game. We lacked a bit of consistency at different points and that’s what we’re going to try to work on into the third and final game.”

Babovic highlighted Maciu Rauda and Mesake Koroi as the instrumental players in the side.

The three-test series between Fiji and Nauru is the first AFL international held outside of Australia.
