Fiji Sports Council Chair Gilbert Vakalalabure has confirmed that the HFC Bank Stadium is set to re-open in about three weeks.

While everything else is ready, the contractors are waiting for a line marker from London to mark the tracks for World Athletics accreditation.

Vakalalabure mentioned the Council’s ongoing efforts to upgrade sporting facilities, expressing their commitment over time.

“The track is ready now and we are just waiting for the line for the marking and we will be opening in up in three weeks from now.”

He further notes that, equipped with the upgraded facilities, the nation is well-prepared to host the 2031 Pacific Games.

Meanwhile, Sphynx Solutions, the Australian-based engineering company that is contracted for the project confirms that the project is scheduled to be handed back to the Fiji Sports Council by January 26th.

Yesterday marked the official reopening of the National Hockey & Aquatic Centre.

The total expenditure for the refurbishment of both facilities amounted to $19.5 million.
