Flood alert remains in force

A flood alert remain in force for all low lying areas, small streams and areas adjacent to the Waimanu and Naqali stations.

The Fiji Meteorological Office in a statement revealed that levels at the Waimanu station was 2.89m at 2.00pm which is 1.11m below alert level and decreasing.

MET says a trough of low pressure with associated cloud and rain remain slow moving over the northern parts of the group.
It is expected to intensify and affects most parts of the group from this afternoon.

Tide height is schedule for 4.53pm.

A flood alert remains in force for the low lying areas, small streams for Vanua Levu, Northern and Western parts of Viti Levu.

The Meteorology Services says a dominant moist northwesterly wind flow prevails over Fiji with the trough of low pressure just to the west of the country.

Meanwhile, Tropical Depression O8F lies slow moving to the south of Fiji and is moving south away from the group.

Another significant Tropical Disturbance, TD07F, currently to the far northwest of Fiji near Vanuatu is expected to move towards Fiji.

This may gradually intensify into a depression and possibly affect the group from tomorrow.


Flood alert remains in force

A flood warning remains in force for the following low lying areas that are still above the warning level:

Nayavu station downstream along the Wainibuka River; at Navolau station downstream along the upper Rewa River; at Rewa bridge station; at Wailotua station downstream to the Wainibuka River.

Other areas include:

Vatukacevaceva station downstream to Rakiraki town; at Nairukuruku station downstream of Wainimala River; at Ba bridge station downstream of Ba River.
