The green baize will take centre stage this week as TISI Sangam Fiji celebrates 100 years of unity, culture, and community with the Centenary Sangam Snooker Championship.
The tournament, which runs from 3rd to 6th April at Nadi Sports Club, brings together top players from across Fiji and abroad, combining skill, focus, and legacy in a competition that carries historic significance.
Defending champion Vineel Nand returns this year, aiming to defend his title and secure a place in the record books as the first-ever Centenary Champion.
Last year’s runner-up, Manoj Goundar from Auckland, is also back with renewed determination.
Goundar hopes to turn last year’s heartbreak into triumph as he challenges the tournament favourites.
The competition features a strong field of contenders, including Tarun Padyachi, Raymond Reddy, Kailash Goundar, Muni Krishna, Shalend Raju, and Manav, alongside dark horses Karunagaran Naicker and Shalend Gounder, who could upset the established order.
In addition to the main championship, the Masters Category will be held at Nadi Club, providing a platform for experienced players to compete and showcase their talent.
For 100 years, Sangam Fiji has promoted cultural preservation, education, and community spirit.
The snooker championship is not only a sporting event but also a celebration of heritage, unity, and intergenerational connection.
Organisers say the Centenary Sangam Snooker Championship promises excitement, emotion, and history in the making as players compete for glory in this landmark year.
