This project is spearheaded by Taveuni Rotary Club and the Fiji Society for the Blind.

TRC Treasurer Michael Prasad says most Fijians who reside in rural and maritime areas seek this service.

Prasad adds over 900 Fijians were successfully treated in the recent years.

“In the last three years we have done over 900 surgeries we did, 300 for operations this year, 328 last year and 343 the year before that”.

Meanwhile, 53 Fijians from Tailevu and Naitasiri successfully underwent eye operations in Taveuni last week.

The Fiji Society for the Blind plans to identify Fijians on Gau, Kadavu and Ovalau islands for the operational phase next year.
