Set piece worry for McKee

September 17, 2019 5:19 pm

The set-piece is always a big area for improvement for the Flying Fijians according to head coach John McKee.

McKee says the scrum has been quite good but the lineout probably needs some attention and the coaching staff saw against Tonga they used the lineout more against them and Fiji probably expects Australia to attack in that area, too, so they’ve been doing some work in that area.

The national coach is just keeping it real ahead of their Rugby World Cup opener against the Wallabies and says they want to get out of their pool and into the playoffs, and then it’s a new ball game.

McKee says they are really looking forward to the first match and they have high ambitions in this World Cup.

He adds they know they have big challenges with big teams in their pool but it’s a great first match for them.

Fiji will play Australia at 4:45pm on Saturday.
Other games on Saturday will see France taking on Argentina at 7:15pm followed by New Zealand and South Africa at 9:45pm.
