Tourism earnings for the March quarter stood at over $366m, an increase of 2.3 percent when compared to the same period last year.

However, it was around 30 percent lower than the amount recorded for the December quarter of 2018.

Apart from Australia, earnings from New Zealand, China and USA went up.

Tourism earnings from New Zealand was around $60m, the USA recorded $39m where as China also recorded an increase raking in $26.5m.

Earnings from Australia decreased standing at $157m.
