Fiji Chess Selection Panel member Goru Arvind says Sikivou’s performance was a stunning follow-up to his 4.5/9 in the 2016 World Chess Olympiad at Azerbaijan where he earned his Candidate Master title.

Team Fiji added a 6-0 win over Somalia and 5-1 win over Macau after defeating Bhutan 4-2, Guam 4-2, and Laos 6-0 in it’s first-ever World Championship hat-trick.

Fiji was eliminated from the event when it fell short in a 2.5 – 3.5 loss to a strong side from Pakistan.
