Fiji Volleyball teams out of Pacific Games

Another sport will not be taking part in this year’s Pacific Games in Samoa.

Team Fiji Chef de Mission Patrick Bower says both men and women’s Volleyball teams will not feature for Team Fiji at the games due to financial constraints.

Bower says all teams were given time to prepare for the games.

He says he would assume if a team were to go to the Pacific Games, the team would have at least four years to prepare.

He says in that regard, sporting federations have got to prepare their finances as well.

“It is impossible for us to take any team to the Pacific Games or anywhere for that matter without finances. With the large team that we are taking to Samoa, we need the finances we need the finances to pay for the chartered aircraft and for while they are over there for the accommodation and all the other necessary items to get us to Samoa and to participate and to return.”

Earlier last month, Team Fiji Men and Women Beach Volleyball were also as they failed to pay their levy on time.

The 2019 Pacific Games begin in Samoa on the 7th of next month and ends on the 20th.
