The Fiji government has invested more than $102m in grants and loans for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.
The sector has been further assisted through the Ministry which provides business advisory and training to aspiring and established MSMEs.
Every year, on June 27th the World celebrates MSME Day commemorating the importance and contributions of MSMEs worldwide.
Minister for Trade, Manoa Kamikamica, says Fiji has come a long way in terms of MSME development.
The Ministry will also mark International Co-operative Day on July 1st with this year’s theme being “Partners for Accelerated Sustainable Development”.
Permanent Secretary for Trade, Shaheen Ali, says a number of commercial groups have found new opportunities in formalising their business structures as co-operatives.
Ali adds this has assisted them in accessing grant funding, loans, development leases, and the ability to enter into contacts.
In recognition of both the MSME and the Co-operatives Days, the Ministry will be hosting a combined Market Day.
The Market Day will be held on July 1st at the Old MH building in Ba.
