Respect courtroom etiquette: Temo

Acting Chief Justice Salesi Temo says legal practitioners must always value client relations and courtroom etiquette.

This was his advice to 20 barristers and solicitors from the University of Fiji who were admitted to the Fiji Bar in Suva today.

Temo emphasized that clients play a crucial role in a lawyer’s career, and urged the newly-admitted practitioners to treat them with respect.

“Treat clients fairly, and don’t be arrogant to them because they are your source of bread and butter the higher the reputation go as a true honest counsel fighter, you will get more people come to you but if you are known as the inefficient, incompetent lawyer clients will run away from you”

Temo says the issue of mistreatment of clients by lawyers has plagued the profession for several years.
