The National Federation Party has extended its warmest greetings to Fiji’s Muslim community on the occasion of the Birthday of the Holy Prophet Muhammad.
The NFP says this year’s observance is significant as it coincides with the 100th anniversary of the Fiji Muslim League.
The party says the League has made lasting contributions to Fiji through education, community service, charitable work and advocacy.
The NFP also highlighted the late Siddiq Moidin Koya’s role in Fiji’s history, including negotiations that led to the recognition of Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday and Diwali as national public holidays in 1974.
The party says the decision reflected political dialogue and recognition of Fiji’s religious and cultural diversity.
The NFP says the Muslim community has played an integral role in Fiji’s political, economic and social development.
It has wished Muslims in Fiji and around the world a peaceful and meaningful observance, while congratulating the Fiji Muslim League on 100 years of service.
