FCCC seeks public input on tariffs

January 3, 2026 1:03 pm

The Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission is now urging all Fijians to actively participate in public consultation sessions on the electricity tariff rate structure.

The Commission states that consultations will be held in person with the public also able to submit their views in writing or through FCCC’s online survey during the consultation period.

FCCC is strongly encouraging domestic consumers, consumer groups, businesses, industries, government departments, political parties, social organisations and youth representatives to attend the sessions and make submissions.

Last month, the Commission announced new electricity tariff rates that were set to take effect from January 1 following the completion of its regulatory assessment and determination on the tariff proposal submitted by Energy Fiji Limited.

However, after mixed public feedback and heightened interest in the new rates, FCCC suspended the tariff authorisation and opened a 21-day public consultation period.

The Commission states that public feedback will guide its final decision on the tariff structure.
