Renovated hotel boosts tourism

The Tanoa International Hotel in Nadi has officially reopened after a major upgrade.

The hotel underwent a $20 million upgrade, improving the lobby, reception, restaurant, Mint Coffee Lounge, pool and conference facilities.

Fiji recorded nearly one million visitors last year with 735,154 arrivals so far in 2025, a 0.2 per cent increase from last year, highlighting the sector’s resilience.

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka commended the Reddy Group and Tanoa Hotels for their continued investment and confidence in the industry.

He acknowledged the board, management and staff for their dedication and professionalism.

The PM stated that their efforts have strengthened Fiji’s reputation as a world-class destination.

Rabuka added that the hotel exemplifies partnership and shared prosperity with its service reflecting the true spirit of Fijian hospitality.

Tourism, according to the PM remains a cornerstone of Fiji’s economy, sustaining thousands of jobs and supporting local suppliers and communities.

The Prime Minister said the sector was not just an industry but a lifeline for Fijians and a bridge to the world.

He also highlighted Tanoa Group’s wider expansion including the modernisation of Tanoa Plaza in Suva and upcoming upgrades to Tanoa Waterfront Hotel in Lautoka.

The Prime Minister noted that the group operates with 100 per cent local talent and focuses on training, recruitment and engagement with the Vanua.

Rabuka reaffirmed the Coalition Government’s commitment to a competitive and sustainable tourism industry, saying every investment strengthens the economy and delivers prosperity for all Fijians.

He thanked all partners, noting the project demonstrates the power of public-private partnership.
