The Republic of Korea is pushing for the return of direct flights between Fiji and Incheon, with Korean Ambassador to Fiji Kwon Young-seup identifying the route as a key priority for strengthening relations between the two countries.
Speaking at Korea’s National Day reception in Suva, Ambassador Kwon said restoring direct air links would help revitalise commercial ties and encourage greater people-to-people exchanges.
Direct flights between Nadi and Incheon were suspended in October 2019, and the Ambassador says bringing them back remains a major focus during his tenure in Fiji.
He says improved connectivity would support stronger cooperation across a range of areas, including trade, tourism, investment and cultural exchanges.
Ambassador Kwon also expressed confidence that the service could resume with strong backing from the Fijian Government, the Korean community in Fiji and the wider expatriate community.
The proposed resumption is expected to make travel more convenient for tourists, business travellers and families moving between Fiji and South Korea.
While no timeline has been announced for the return of the route, the Ambassador says efforts will continue to make direct flights a reality.
