Namosi survives Tailevu scare

October 18, 2026 4:33 pm

Namosi are one step closer to defending their Marama Cup title after securing a hard-fought 30-27 victory over Tailevu in their quarter-final yesterday.

In a closely contested encounter, Namosi had to withstand intense pressure from Tailevu throughout the 80 minutes to keep their title defence alive.

Namosi coach Maraia Kasanita expressed her pride in her teammates for holding their ground in the closing stages, as Tailevu continued to push until the final hooter.

She said the team’s hard work and sacrifices over the past few weeks had
finally paid off, with their determination proving crucial in securing the narrow victory.

However, Kasanita reminded the players that their work was far from over, with the defending champions now turning their attention to the semi-finals as they continue their quest to retain the title.
