Issued from the National Weather Forecasting Centre Nadi at 11:26am on Wednesday the 27th of January 2021.

A HEAVY RAIN WARNING IS NOW IN FORCE FOR VANUA LEVU, TAVEUNI AND NEARBY SMALLER ISLANDS AND LAU GROUP.
A FLASH FLOOD ALERT REMAINS IN FORCE FOR LOW LYING AREAS AND AREAS ADJACENT TO RIVERS AND STREAMS FOR VANUA LEVU, SERUA COASTAL AREAS TO TOGALEVU AND BA TO KOROVOU.
A STRONG WIND WARNING REMAINS IN FORCE FOR LAND AREAS OF EASTERN HALF
OF VANUA LEVU, TAVEUNI AND NEARBY SMALLER ISLANDS AND THE LAU GROUP.

Situation: A trough of low pressure remains slow moving to the north of the group. Meanwhile, the trough is expected to gradually drift south and affect the group from tomorrow.
Forecast to midnight tomorrow for the Fiji group: Fresh to strong northerly winds with an average speed of 55km/hr from tonight over the eastern half of Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby
smaller islands and the Lau group. Elsewhere, moderate to fresh northwest to southeast winds, gusty at times.
Today: Occasional rain and few thunderstorms over Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands and the Lau group. Isolated heavy falls expected may lead to flash flooding of low lying areas.
Some showers and isolated thunderstorms with heavy falls possible over the eastern parts and interior of the other larger islands.
Elsewhere, fine apart from afternoon or evening showers. Isolated thunderstorms with heavy falls expected.

Tomorrow: Occasional rain and few thunderstorms over Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands and the Lau group. Isolated heavy falls expected and may lead to flash flooding of low lying areas. Elsewhere, cloudy with some showers and thunderstorms with heavy falls expected in the afternoon or evening.
Outlook for Friday: Fresh to strong northerly winds with averages speed of 55km/hr. Periods of rain, heavy at times and squally thunderstorms over Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands and the northern Lau group. Elsewhere, occasional rain, heavy at times and few thunderstorms.

For Navua / Suva / Nausori: Some showers and isolated thunderstorms with heavy falls possible. Showers becoming frequent later tomorrow.
Outlook for Friday: Occasional rain, heavy at times and few thunderstorms

Sigatoka/Coral Coast: Cloudy periods with afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms with heavy falls expected in the afternoon or evening. Showers becoming frequent later tomorrow.
Outlook for Thursday: Occasional rain, heavy at times and few thunderstorms.

For Nadi / Lautoka / Ba: Fine apart from afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms with heavy falls expected in the afternoon or evening. Showers becoming frequent later tomorrow.
Outlook for Friday: Occasional rain, heavy at times and few thunderstorms.

For Tavua / Rakiraki: Fine apart from afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms with heavy falls expected in the afternoon or evening. Showers becoming frequent later tomorrow.
Outlook for Friday: Occasional rain, heavy at times and squally thunderstorms.

For Labasa: Fresh to strong northerly winds with average speeds of 55km/hr from tonight. Occasional rain and few thunderstorms with isolated heavy falls expected.
Outlook for Friday: Periods of rain, heavy at times and squally thunderstorms.

For Savusavu: Fresh to strong northerly winds with average speeds of 55km/hr from tonight. Occasional showers and few thunderstorms with isolated heavy falls expected.
Outlook for Friday: Periods of rain, heavy at times and squally thunderstorms.

For Lau and Lomaiviti group:
For Lau: Fresh to strong northerly winds with average speeds of 55km/hr from tonight. Occasional rain and few thunderstorms with isolated heavy falls expected. Showers gradually increasing to rain from later tonight. Elsewhere, some showers and isolated thunderstorms with heavy falls possible. Showers becoming frequent later tomorrow.
Outlook for Friday: Periods of rain, heavy at times and squally thunderstorms.

For Kadavu: Fine apart from afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms with heavy falls expected in the afternoon or evening.
Outlook for Friday: Occasional rain, heavy at times and few thunderstorms.

For Rotuma: A STRONG WIND WARNING REMAINS IN FORCE FOR ROTUMA WATERS AND IS NOW IN FORCE FOR LAND AREAS.

Situation: An active convergence zone with cloud and rain affects Rotuma.

Over waters: Northwest winds 20 to 25 knots. Rough seas.
Overland: Northwest winds to 50 km/hr, gusting to 60 km/hr.
Occasional rain, heavy at times and squally thunderstorms.
