The Fiji Zone Taxi Association is calling on taxi operators to produce detailed financial records to prove the rising cost of running their businesses and strengthen the case for long-term support.
At its scheduled meeting in Suva today, the association urged members to record daily expenses, including fuel, vehicle maintenance, income and other operating costs.
The association says accurate financial data is needed to establish the true cost of operating a taxi and support discussions with relevant authorities.
It maintains that temporary assistance will not provide a lasting solution to rising costs. The association wants a funding arrangement that protects drivers’ livelihoods while keeping taxi fares affordable for the public.
Taxi operators are now being urged to work collectively and submit accurate records to support the association’s push for a long-term solution.
