October 30, 2015 4:54 am

Papua New Guinea’s Attorney-General has handed himself in for questioning over allegations he conspired to defeat the course of justice, police say.

Ano Pala turned himself in at the Fraud Squad headquarters in Port Moresby.

ABC reports that earlier this week, a PNG court dismissed Pala’s application to stay the warrant for his arrest and police were preparing to physically arrest him.

Fraud police have been trying to arrest Pala since July last year but he has been fighting their warrant in PNG’s courts.

Pala has been accused of conspiring with Prime Minister Peter O’Neill and other senior government members to try to legitimise allegedly fraudulent legal bills.
