Samoa measles epidemic: Death toll rises to 62

In the last 24 hours, a further 165 cases have also been confirmed by the Ministry of Health.

The measles death toll in Samoa is still going up, with another two people dying overnight.

Of the 62 who have died since the measles epidemic started in the country, 57 were children under the age of 15, while 26 were babies aged less than one year old.

Three deaths were for adults over the age of 19.

In the last 24 hours, a further 165 cases have also been confirmed by the Ministry of Health.

More than 55 percent of Samoa’s total population of over 200,000 have been vaccinated since October 1.
