Bomb threat at Auckland airport's domestic terminal resolved

A bomb threat reportedly made by a passenger at Auckland airport was a misunderstanding, police said.

Officers were called to a “report of a threat being made by a passenger of a plane at the domestic terminal at Auckland airport” shortly before 4.50pm on Monday.

A spokeswoman for Auckland airport confirmed a threat had been made and said a person was being questioned by police.

“Operations haven’t been impacted by this and everything is carrying on as per normal.”

The airport was not evacuated.

Shortly before 6pm, the police spokeswoman confirmed the incident had been “resolved”.

Police have since spoken to the passenger and it appears the incident was a misunderstanding.

“Police are confident there is no threat to the public and the matter has been resolved.”
