The election commission said on Tuesday the NLD had won 78 of the 88 seats declared so far for the 440-strong lower house. No seats have been declared in the upper house.
We probably will get between, around 75 per cent in the union legislature," Suu Kyi, 70, told the BBC in an interview.
The party needs to win 67 per cent of contested seats across both houses of parliament for a majority victory. But it could still take days for the full results to be officially announced.
Suu Kyi also told the broadcaster that the polls, long billed as the freest and fairest in decades in the former junta-ruled state, were “largely free” despite “areas of intimidation”.
