The jailed former head of Papua New Guinea’s Climate Change office, Dr Theo Yasause, has filed a complaint against the state alleging his human rights have been breached in prison.
Yasause is serving a 30-year sentence for the murder of a former rugby league star.

In the National Court yesterday, Theo Yasause claimed his human rights had been breached at Bomana Prison and that the state had failed in its duty of care.
Among other complaints, he alleges he has been physically assaulted by other inmates and that food provided is not adequate.
Yasause was the head of PNG’s climate change office before he was suspended in 2009 amid corruption allegations.
In 2012, he was convicted of shooting dead former national rugby league player Aquila Emil in his car near a Port Moresby nightclub.
