Coventry bus crash: Eight hurt as double-decker hits supermarket

October 3, 2015 7:00 pm

Eight people were injured when a double-decker bus hit a number of cars before crashing into a supermarket in Coventry city centre, police say.

The bus struck a number of stationary cars and a lamp-post in Hale Street before crashing into Sainsbury’s, in Trinity Street.

West Midlands Police said three people were seriously injured and five others had minor injuries.

A number had been trapped on the bus’s top deck, the force said.

Road closures and a police cordon are in place.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said six people had been taken to hospital and two people were assessed and discharged at the scene.
