Mother separated from baby as train pulls out of Melbourne station

July 13, 2019 7:02 am

A mother has spent 15 frantic minutes separated from her baby after the doors of a Melbourne Metro train closed.

This left her child on the departing carriage while she stood on the platform.

The woman was trying to board a Glen Waverly-bound service from Burnley station at 6.09pm yesterday with her baby when under circumstances still to be discovered the doors closed separating the mother and child.

Protective Service Officers looked after the baby when it arrived at Heyington station in Toorak before the pair were reunited at 6.24pm with the mum boarding the following train from Burnley.

A similar incident unfolded at Southern Cross Station earlier this year, when a mum was separated from her baby in

May before being re-united at the next city loop station.
