15 dead in US college shooting

As many as 15 people have been killed in a shooting at an Oregon community college.

Another 20 were wounded at the Umpqua Community College campus in Roseburg.

The local fire department said there were multiple casualties and advised people to stay away from the area.

Douglas County officials said a suspect has been taken into custody, according to US media reports. The suspect was not identified.

A Douglas County official said intial reports indicated at least 15 people were dead after the shooting.

Authorities were first called to the scene about 10.30am local time.

The Portland Oregonian newspaper said agents from the US Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives were en route to Roseburg, a city of about 20,000 people.
