Youth games to begin many athletes international careers

September 3, 2015 12:15 am

The Commonwealth Youth Games in Samoa will mark the first steps in the sporting careers of Team Fiji athletes.

Chef de Mission, Lyndall Fisher says since most of the athletes will be making their debut in the international arena, a lot of time has been spent on grooming them to embrace the atmosphere and do their best.

“This is like the first step towards international preparation. Manueli Tulo from weightlifting started his career at the Commonwealth Youth Games and now he is a Commonwealth Games athlete and an Olympian. We are telling these athletes that this is the start of their sporting career and I think they are all excited.”
