September 6, 2012 12:30 am

Six locally based Under18 rugby league teams and a New Zealand-Fiji Rugby U17 outfit will battle for the Tangitupou Challenge in Suva in two weeks time.

Fiji National Rugby League interim administrator, Tomi Finau says the event augurs well for the development of the sport.

“It’s a costly affair to send teams to overseas so by bringing these teams to Fiji…They can play a lot more of the local teams in such an event."

The tournament is named after former FNRL chairman, the late Ilaisa Tangitupou.

FNRL selectors will be present to select a national U20 side for the international games later this year.
