Young players need to step up in the absence of senior players: Raidre

Fiji Airways Drua number eight Peni Raidre believes that local club players have the capabilities of making the cut in the national side if they fill in the shoes of senior players and take their training seriously.

The Naitasiri lad who currently plays for the Army club and Suva for provincial rugby says the young players need motivation in order to improve on their performance.

“The young players need to step up in the absence of the senior players and perform to their best in order to be part of the national team.”

Meanwhile, a total of 30 players were selected from the clubs affiliated under the Suva Rugby union whereby eight have been part of the national team representing Fiji in the sevens and fifteens code.

The FRU Provincial tens tournament will be held at the Bidesi and Buckhurst ground in Suva on Saturday.
