The inclusion of France-based player, Peceli Yato in the final 31-member team of the Vodafone Flying Fijians squad to the Rugby World Cup has not come as a surprise for the Nadroga Rugby Union.

The Waicoba lad of Nadroga had been with the Stallions development squad for three years before joining the Clermont Rugby Academy in France in 2012.

Nadroga Rugby President, Tiko Matawalu says the Yato’s perseverance has led to his success on the rugby field.

“He attended trials for Under-20 for Fiji team, he tried twice but was not selected. And he was identified by our Clermont partners to be able to join the Academy. So he has been there for two years and now he is in the Flying Fijians, making and forcing his way to the World Cup team.”

Meanwhile, the Flying Fijians will have their first training run in London this morning and take on Canada in a warm-up match next Monday.

Fiji meets England in the World Cup opening match on September 19th at 7am and you can watch it live on FBC TV.
