The Y Maro side from Sigatoka defeated 4R Electric Men in Black 3-1 to win the Islands Pacific Apparel futsal tournament final at Nadi Muslim College yesterday.
The newly crowned-champions had the services of Nadroga district reps, Anish Khem and Gerard Voi.
Khem went on to scoop the Golden Boot Award for scoring 10 goals in the tournament as well as the Most Valuable Player Award.
Futsal tournament organizer, Nadim Mohammed says the performance of the two teams in the final was a fitting finale to the two-day competition.
“From our point of view it was a very successful event. Apart from the increase in prizes and number of teams participating, we also got to witness the competition level increasing compared to what we saw last year.”
In the semifinals, Y Maro beat Nikhil Strikers 3-1 and 4R Electric Men in Black defeated Northland 2-0.
Y Maro collected $1100 as champions while 4R Electric Men in Black earned $350 as runners up.
