World Rugby has responded to the statement issued by the Fiji Rugby Union yesterday saying that Fiji should be included in the World Rugby Council.

The statement by FRU states that nations that are ranked lower than Fiji are in the Council so why not Fiji.

World Rugby CEO Brett Gosper says states that there are some criteria’s needed to be followed before this can done.

“We are looking at finding the right criteria that motivates Unions on performance on a wide variety of criteria that will allow hopefully the opening up of participation for those teams coming on the council so we are not at the end of that process yet. That may provide in the future unions like Fiji and others with a possibility that if they comply with certain areas that are outlined that they can hope to be one day on the council.”

Meanwhile Fiji Rugby Union CEO Radrodro Tabualevu says they will have a look at the criteria’s outlined by World Rugby and work on it.
