Cook Islands and Samoa have made a good start to the Oceania Football Confederation World Cup 2018 qualifiers stage 1 underway in Tonga.

In the first round, the Cooks defeated host Tonga 3-0 while Samoa accounted for American Samoa 3-2.

In the second round tomorrow, Cook Islands play Samoa while the American Samoans take on Tonga.

The winner of this qualifiers will qualify for the next stage which will take place next year in June in which Fiji will also take part.

The 2018 World Cup will be held in Russia.
