The Fiji National Sports Commission Chairperson, Peter Mazey says a whole new development plan is being rolled out for the Laucala Bay Secondary School property.

Prior to its demolition, the school catered for many sporting competitions such as table tennis.

Mazey says they are completely demolishing the current facilities and working on building a whole new facility which would benefit the sporting community immensely.

“It will be a multiple purpose facility that will be put in place there. Right at the moment you know we have over 45 different sports and there is no way that you can build a facility for every sport, so what we do is we make them multipurpose.”

The initial demolition work for the old Laucala Bay Secondary School began in 2017.

The Fiji Sports Council is working at developing Fiji’s first Sports Centre Complex in Suva at that location.
