The Vodafone Fiji Football women’s team has created history as they qualified for the first time to the OFC Nations Cup in New Caledonia in November.
The side topped the round robin tournament with seven points beating American Samoa 2-nil in their final qualifying match at Churchill Park yesterday.
Coach Marika Rodu says the girls put in a lot of hard work and praised his team’s performance adding this is just the beginning.
“It’s important for us to make a good pathway for women’s football in Fiji. I think for the past how many years we have been putting a lot of efforts to really develop women’s football in this country.”
Fiji will be pooled with New Zealand, Cook Islands and Tonga in the OFC Nations Cup which will be held from November 18th to December 1st in New Caledonia.
