Western United ready for Champions League

The Western United football side is geared up for the 2015 Fiji Airways OFC Champions League which get us underway this weekend.

The Solomon Islands champion club is pooled with defending champions Auckland City, Amicale and Suva.

Captain, Benjamin Totori says his side has prepared well to take on the best teams in the region.

“This pool with two finalists, even Suva, they have been there as well. We are making our first appearance in this tournament so it’s going to be a tough run for us but we are prepared. This is football, anything can happen.”

Western United will not be lacking in the talent pool with Totori, James Naka and Belgian import, John Agbo to bolster their attacking options.

The club has also been busy recruiting players from Italy, England, France and Scotland.

Western United takes on Amicale in its opening match in the OFC Champions League at 7pm on Saturday at the ANZ Stadium in Suva.

Prior to that, Suva takes on Auckland City at 4:30pm.

At Govind Park in Ba, AS Pirae meets Lupe Ole Soaga of Samoa at 4:30pm while Ba takes on Gaitcha of New Caledonia at 7pm.
