Wellington proved too strong for the Bay of Plenty side after a see-saw battle in the Mitre 10 Championship final last night.

In the half-time break, Wellington led 20-14.

The match continued in the extra minutes of play after both teams were locked 40-40, at the end of the second half.

In the extra minutes of play, Wellington showed more gas and power scoring three tries to one that widened the score margin to a 59-45 win, claiming victory over the Bay of Plenty.
