Weightlifting Fiji is undergoing its final preparation as the World Junior Weightlifting Championship nears.

Fiji will be represented by 8 lifters, four both in the women’s and men’s divisions.

Following in his mother’s footstep, Timothy Vakuruivalu sets his focus on meeting the expectation of his mother Della Shaw, a name that is not so strange to Weightlifting.

“Every time I go out to participate in other competition I always try to do my best to try and keep the standard up there. I also try to make a name for myself. I come from a family of weightlifter and I would want them to impress them and I want to do well in the sport.”

As the date for the JWC slowly closing in, Vakuruivalu has been tirelessly training, with high hopes of snatching Gold for Fiji.

With the exception of Vakuruivalu, this will be the first major competition for all the other lifters.

The World Junior Weightlifting Championship will be held in June.
