No turning back for Cikamatana

Commonwealth Gold medalist Eileen Cikamatana did not think otherwise after being approached and given a permanent residency status in Australia in return for representing the country.

Speaking to FBC Sports from Noumea, New Caledonia, Cikamatana says has been waiting for Weightlifting Fiji to resolve the ongoing issue between the Levuka elite lifters, but nothing eventuated.

Cikamatana says she feels betrayal by Weightlifting Fiji and they have done her an injustice.

“No what they did to me was unforgivable. I’m not going to forgive them for what they did without respecting the decision of an athlete especially a female athlete. I’m Fijian and I’m proud to be a Fijian. But what weightlifting Fiji did to me and they did not go my way and my decision is my right.”

Cikamatana adds it hurts to see how the sporting federation plus FASANOC treated the Ovalau weightlifters.

She will be eligible to represent Australia in 2021.
