Levuka Weightlifting Club President Peni Tawai is happy with Commonwealth Games gold medalist Eileen Cikamatana’s decision to join Team Australia.
Cikamatana who is currently training in New Caledonia was given a permanent residency status in Australia and will represent the country in two years.
Tawai says they’ve given ample time to Weightlifting Fiji to solve the differences but nothing eventuated.
“Eileen Cikamatana has been waiting for sometimes for a chance to comeback to Weightlifting Fiji and that time has expired. The Fiji Sporting Authority to resolve the issue and chaos between Weightlifting Fiji and our elite lifters. It’s a best option for her to represent Australia and I’m very happy with that.”
Cikamatana will be eligible to represent Australia and compete again on an international stage in 2021.
