Coming from a family with rich weightlifting traditions, Brothers Daniel and Timothy Shaw are aiming for stardom in the sport.

Both the brothers say they have been inspired by their mother and former Fiji rep Della Shaw to follow her footstep and continue the legacy.

13-year-old Daniel Shaw says he wants to represent Fiji in the next few years and win medals just like her mom.

“This sport in our blood in our family and its started from our mom and my aunties. I want to represent Fiji and get gold medals like her. If there’s a Youth Olympics in the next five years I’ll try my best to go.”

19-year-old Timothy Vakuruivalu who is the eldest says his mom was his driving force to where he is now.

“She’s been traveling with me a lot and she’s been speaking to me and try and motivate me to keep carrying on with the sport and she’s been helping me a lot.”

Vakuruivalu has represented Fiji in the Oceania Championship and the Asian Indoor Games in Turkmenistan in the 96kg last year.
