60 gold medals up for grabs at World Junior Weightlifting Championship

A total of 60 Gold Medals will be up for grabs at this year’s World Junior Weightlifting Championship.

This was revealed by Weightlifting Fiji President, Atma Maharaj who says that there will be three categories for awarding these medals.

Maharaj says that medals will be presented in three different categories which are Snatch, Clean N Jerk and Total.

Medals will be presented, in three different categories. One is the Snatch, then Clean N Jerk and total. So it is for every weight category, there’ll be three Gold, three Silver and three Bronze medals that’ll be presented.

Maharaj also says that the venue for this year’s competition is being transformed.

We have been working very closely with the Fiji Sports Council, Fiji Sports Commission to ensure that we are able to deliver the Championships on a World Class stage.

He adds that a total of 180 medals will be presented throughout the 8 day period.

The Junior Weightlifting Championship will begin this Saturday at the FMF Gymnasium and end next Saturday.
