Weightlifting Fiji to undergo final trial

Weightlifting Fiji will hold another national trial by the end this month before selecting a team for the Oceania Championships and the World Junior Championships.

Secretary Ritesh Ratiram, says they are looking at consistent lifters to represent the country.

“Depending on their training and the number of days they’ve been coming for training. It’s just not the result on the platform it’s the whole holistic approach and we have our own criteria that we will do the selection from.”

The elite lifters like Apolonia Vaivai, Manueli Tulo, Poama Qaqa, Maria Mareta and Sofia Kinikinilau were part of the first trial over the weekend.

Meanwhile, the Oceania Championships will be held from the 25th to the 30th of next month in Noumea, New Caledonia.
