Weightlifting Fiji names team to Mini Games

Weightlifting Fiji will have 12 athletes and 3 Officials travel to Port Vila as part of Team Fiji to compete in the 2017 Pacific Mini Games.

This competition is a build up to the competitions in 2018 including the Commonwealth Games, the Oceania Championships, Youth Olympic Games and the World Championships.

Section Manager, Ritesh Ratiram says our athlete development program is getting good traction.

“We now have some very talented young and upcoming athletes coming through the ranks who’ll be competing alongside the big names in the sport, both from Fiji and the Oceania in Vanuatu.”

The Vanuatu competition however coincides with the World Championships in USA.

Manueli Tulo, Apolonia Vaivai and Joe Vueti will be travelling to compete in Anaheim before returning to join the team in Vanuatu.

Young weightlifting sensation Eileen Cikamatana will travel directly to Port Vila and join the team there.
