Wardens is Nasinu 7s champion

Wardens was crowned the champion of the Ram Sami Nasinu 7s tournament after beatingTabadamu 10-7 at Nausori’s Ratu Cakobau Park last night.

Both teams failed to convert any points in the second spell as they both scored tries in the first half.

Silivenusi Gavidi and Asesela Tadulala scored a try each for Wardens while Samuela Bale scored the Blues lone try.

Wardens coach Sailosi Naiteqe congratulated his players for coming this far even though it was a tough two days for them.

“It was a very tough tournament for us since we’ve been down for sometimes but today I congratulated the boys for playing as a team and lift the trophy tonight.”

Despite the loss, Tabadamu Coach/Player and former national 7s rep Nasoni Roko thanked his players for playing their hearts out.

“This final is history for us. We won the Natakala 7s last weekend and we’ve come this far and the boys are doing the hard yards and we train every day at the YMCA and it’s a big achievement for us to reach the final tonight.”

Wardens walked away with five thousand dollars prize money together with the trophy.

Meanwhile, Fijiana One was crowned the winner in the women’s category after beating China Two 29-10 in the cup final.
