The Wallabies suffered an agonizing 9-6 loss to Wales at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff.
Dan Biggar’s late penalty was the match winner as Wales ended a 13-game losing run against Australia.
Matt Toomua had drawn the Wallabies level at 6-6 with a long-range three-pointer but Australia could not find a winning score on a grim night for Michael Cheika’s side.
Wales now face Tonga next week while Australia travel to Italy.
Meanwhile, looking at other autumn test matches, Italy beat Georgia 28-17, Argentina defeated Ireland 14-12, and New Zealand managed to secure a 16-15 narrow win over England.
