The Fiji Bitter Wairiki 7s tournament director Jone Vuki was disappointed with the response of the mainland teams for not showing interest to be part of the tournament that will begin on Wednesday.

Vuki says the outer island teams have always learned a lot from the local top teams that used to participate in the tournament.

“The participation of top teams and players from the mainland helps build the experience within the island rugby teams. They used to come and participate in previous years but now they have forgotten about us.”

Vuki added with the participation of mainland teams, it helps them grow as well as Fiji Rugby as a whole.

The tournament kicks-off on Wednesday with the under 19 sevens competition and ends on Saturday.
