Wainimakutu leads Suva Zone One

Wainimakutu Secondary school is leading both divisions in the Suva Zone One athletics meet at the National Stadium in Suva.

The Namosi-based athletes are staying true to their profile as talented long distance runners by scooping medals in the 800-meter races as they await the recent 3,000-metre races.

They lead the tally so far with 3 gold, 1silver and 1 bronze for the girls, while the boys are on top with 2 gold.

In the girls division Rishikul is in second place with 1 gold and 2 silvers followed LDS (1 gold, 2 silver), Dudley (1 gold, 1 silver), RSMS (1 gold), Assemblies of God ( 1 silver, 1 bronze) and Kalabu High ( 1 silver).

Behind Wainimakutu in the boys division is Nasinu Secondary with 2 gold, 2 silver and a bronze, John Wesley, AG, Latter-Day Saints and Rishikul.

Other medals were won in the high jump, long jump, discus and shot put events.
