Eugene Vollmer could not believe that he actually won a gold medal for Team Fiji in the Men’s Triple Jump.

Vollmer clearly remembers the day 12 years ago when he made his debut for Fiji in Samoa but he had to settle for silver.

After his gold medal-winning jump of 15.53 meters beating close friend Peniel Richard of Papua New Guinea, Vollmer says the win is special because he defended his Pacific Games Triple Jump gold.

Vollmer says he will continue to represent Fiji and still have a few more years to go.
